This is how the race ended for me and Shannon. Someone from the aids station way up in the Wasatch mountain, mile 28, gave us a ride back back to McDo in the town of Bountiful. We didn't have any money with us and were desperate for a shake. It was a bit of a battle but they finally agreed to let us consume their fine products on credit like any other restaurant. Lucinda picked us up 45 minutes later and that was it for us and the 2008 Wasatch 100 edition.
Not much else to say really. We just didn't have it. Right after the aid station, there was this long hill facing us, Shannon turns to me and ask "Do you really want to do more climbing?" I said no, we turned around and went back to the AS and called it a day.
Chad made it to the Lamb's Canyon station, mile 53. He had stomach problems the poor little boy. Just as we were assembling with Mr. and Mrs. Willford for dinner we got the call to pick him up. A couple brewskies later (Polygamist Porter and Provo Girl are among the local selection), all egos were heeled and we were all off for a good night sleep.

Getting Hammered at McDonald's
Now there's a concept. How many of those shakes did you drink?
Sorry to hear about the DNF. I'm told they build character.
BTW, I don't see dusty shoes or muddy calves. You 2 look very comfortable, I might add. Are you telling the whole story?
Let me get this straight...
Sorry I missed it
Hi Gilles, Shannon and
Sorry to hear that Wasatch wasn't your race. Glad your lovely egos didn't suffer long term damage. I wish you all a good recovery.
