Arrowhead 135

Just arrived here in international falls MN for the Arrowhead 135 mile race. on the last flight over I got to chat with last years winner and only finisher on foot Sarah Lowell. now I've just got to pass the gear check and get some rest. It's tropical over here with a temperature of +20 compared to last years -40. I was really hoping it was more like -10 and dry. maybe I'll have to pull out the shorts.

Congrats, Daniel!

Way to go!  If you have it in the plans to come to Vancouver anytime soon, stay the night with us and you can do a slide show and invite all of the curious.  Are you planning to do the Squamish Scrambler on  Sunday?

Scrambler mmm! eggs that sounds good.

I'm feeling ok today but a little sick. I'll see how I feel when I get home tomarrow but I'd love to see some mtns again. it's pretty flat over here. what's the weather look like? I think I did pretty well considering that my last long run was the grand canyon.

Still have (all) of my digits

Sorry for the delay. I've been a little out of it for the last 24hrs. Wow 135 miles is a long way. wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't so warm the first day. had to pull out the shorts for the first 25 miles and the last 5. the first day was tough and a lot of people dropped do to the trail condition. racers said that they were more wiped then normal. the first day was cloudy but the following two days were nice and sunny. the weather went from +20 to -20 on the second night and My shoes froze solid forcing me to stop and melt the ice off. after melting a good bit of my shoes and putting them in my sleeping bag I got a few winks of sleep. I found out later that one of the other racers had come by and yelled at me and I didn't even move and inch. but after the nap I was able to get my shoes back on and power it in the last 20 miles. I wasn't planning on stopping but when your shoes freez solid what do you do? I'll be heading home tomorrow and will post pictures and finish up the story. Daniel

Congrades

Look forward to the pic and the rest of the story.  A 135 is not just a few more mile that a 100 miles it is an other 56 km.

Cheers Colin
