Congrats to Western States lottery winners

Congratulations to the ones who were drawn: Gilles, Chad, Andy, Dom, Wade, Jeff and Marie. Disappointing for quite a few others but, hey, but it just means different challenges. Make a personal slam with any 4 "100's" of your choice. Don't forget STORMY!!

Elk Beaver training group?

Great idea, Baldwin! Burnaby Lake is perfect for training for Elk Beaver. How about setting up a training group ...just casual...say, anyone interested meet Thursday nights at 5:30 or something similar?

Thanks Cheryl

Yes, I will be going for the Grand Slam but with Stormy the weekend before Leadville which is #3 of the Grand Slam list and Cascade Crest the weekend after some tough choices will have to be made or not...I'll see how it goes.

New challenges

Hmmm. Disappointing. That's one way of putting it.

It just gives me one more year to train for Western, I can work on night running, extra long distances, train smarter, etc.  All I have to do is requalify....which brings me to my goal race.

Of all the ultras that I've completed in my limited experience I've yet to actually run a 100km race. Oh sure, technically I ran a 100k during Tahoe, but it's not quite the same thing.

I have attempted H2H, but would up getting injured during training as the miles accumulated, so a road 100k is out.

I even "considered" the Vancouver 100...for about 8 seconds. But looking at the finishing times, that might eclipse my Tahoe time!

I still would like to run in California, to see some old friends and family and the only month I have available for vacation is May.

So there's only race that I can think of and that's Miwok.

Now I still have to get in, because it sells out really quick, but if everything goes well, I'll be toeing the line on May 3, 2008!

If Miwok doesn't work...

..there's always Elk/Beaver the same weekend. The 50 miler is a qualifier.

Good call

but I'd probably do the 100k. If I'm going to Elk/Beaver I figure I'll do my training around Burnaby Lake that's roughly 11k per loop.

V100 definitely not a good choice

Given that the V100 course record isn't even a WS100 qualification time, you're right, it's probably not a good choice.
