Runners to Storm the JdF Trail next week!!!

I (Jeff Hunt) will be posting the details for our JdF Trail Run here.http://trailadventurer.blogspot.com/ If you have anything to add, or any questions, just email me at jeff.hunt@smus.bc.ca Feel free to invite anyone you want for this run. The more, the merrier. Date: August 23rd, 2008. People who have confirmed (12 people..possibly a couple more!) Jeff "Trailadventurer" Hunt Bob "The Builder" Wall Myke "Peach City" LaBelle Adam "Shutterbug" Campbell Carlos "The Jackal" Castillo Sandy "Count me in" Stewart Rob "Pacman" MacKay Don "Jarhead" Peterson Shawn "The Recordbreaker" Nelson Mathias "The Berlin Wall" Schoeck Rafael "Pedalhead"Albert Cheryl Johnson (mainland) Geoff Palmer (mainland) Ming "Stealthy" Kang (maybe) Ean "The Legend" Jackson (maybe) The plan: We will meet at the Thetis Lake Overflow parking at 7 am that morning (sharp). We will arrange carpool from here. Some will want to arrange direct carpoool even to Thetis...There will definitely be a convoy coming from the Gordon Head area (Jeff, Carlos, Myke). The plan is to start the trail at 8 am. We will run South to North (China Beach to Botanical). Some will be doing an out and back (reduced distance), and some will be doing the whole bloody thing. We will have different groups of speed doing it. We will probably have 3 groups go...a super fast group (estimated 6.5 hours), a fast group (estimated 8 hours), and a slower group (estimated 10 hours). In any event, this will be a run you will remember for the rest of your life. And, there is no entry fee. Just bring some money to contribute for your driver. Low Tide is at 11:25 am. What you need: Trail shoes, strong legs, and a desire to never give up. Running this trail is not easy, but will be rewarding as anything in your life. You will need a light CamelBak, and planty of gels and bars. You may also want to bring water treatment caps with you, but that is totally up to you. Plan on carbo loading as well. Cell phones do not work, but the plan is to never have anyone by themselves on the trail. Like in swim class, we always use the buddy system. Check online for the map if you do not know the trail. Knowing how long each beach section will aid greatly.

Gotta Bow Out

Hey Jeff, Did a 45 minute shakedown run on Tuesday. Not confident I won't break down on the trail, so best I pull the plug. (Persistent calf tear.) Here's wishing you and the lucky ones who will be out with you sunny weather and many whale sightings!

Me too

I really want to get on the JDFT. Not the whole thing, maybe half or maybe an out and back. Any other slow pokes?

Cheryl

There is a plan that I was to do an out and back, then do the car jockeying thing to get the guys back. I would be up at the top end for the faster guys.Seven hours after the start. So I could hang with the slower runners then double back when I needed to, to do the car thing. I was going to dedicate six hours that day for the trail. If I can borrow Norma's minivan,I could legally bring back six runners, if Cheryl and I go up to the top with her car too, we should be able to bring back three more, it sounds very doable.

Good plan

For sure I can drive back to pick up runners.

Count Me In

I'd love to join you for the run. Hopefully us mainland folk can arrange a carpool down. Geoff

Check out the list, are you still coming?

My yard is always available, plus I will get you to the start on time, trust me... If you need to stay in a hotel nearer the start I really don't know what to suggest other that the good old "Google".

Cheryl & Cynnimon and maybe Rhonda

will be there. After the rain in Squamish, I've booked a hotel in Victoria for the JDFT. Maybe I could meet you and follow you out in the morning.

Wouldn't that be nice...

Been a while. I figure I owe the JDF a visit and what better opportunity to share the pleasure of your company. Wreaked myself again, so have to see how it goes at STORMY. Not looking too good for the Stein at this point. Also have to ask Mom. Consider me a "maybe".
