Enthusing over Elk Beaver

The day may have been one of continual drizzle, but nothing dampened my spirits. I had expected a flat (found it), oval track around a couple of lakes. The course meandered through woods mostly, with a few open breaks. One of those open breaks held a fisherman who reeled in two rainbow trout as I trotted past him. We ran counter clockwise and what seemed to be an entire local running and dog-walking community met us head on with "You guys are awesome (the non-gender-specific kind of guys comment) and "You rock"- comments along that vein. Flattering- a full day of flattering stuff, enough to keep me excited about what was a way too runnable course! (Bring on a hill for a walk break....) The event was nicely organized with aid stations around the lakes and a great cental aid station at the timing station. Well done, Carlos. I was delighted to see so many FAs, and found the the event friendly and supportive. Cheryl and I carpooled over and met Caroline and Neil and Andy Bachman on the ferry over. We saw Glen and Carlos and met a few new-to-us people at the pasta dinner. Rick and Geoff awith his bicycle were at the start line. Rick has logged in his 49th ultra now. Ann Taylor did a quick run, then headed for the ferry. Rainy Kent zipped quickly around the course too. I'd definitely head back again. Rhonda

EB was fun

I really wasn't expecting to have fun but it was great. Your volunteers were great, the aid stations never ran out of Coke and the photographer was charming. We're wondering, did you pay all those people to run in the opposite direction and cheer us on? Oh, and watching the battle in the 100 was very cool. Great race, Carlos, you are a good RD.
