Home from Tahoe!

Body Count: Karl finished in ~ 28hrs, Neil in 29:49:41 (last 6 miles in 55mins!!), John in ~ 32hrs. Randy dropped at Red House during the night. Rhonda and Chad (Marla's husband) completed the 50km as planned. Carolyn and Marla switched to the 50km from the 50 miler when they were told that the Diamond Peak aid station was AWOL. Phil finished the 50 miler in ~ 13hrs. Cheryl stopped early on due to the effects of the altitude and heat. All of us found it a very challenging event, it was 10 - 15 degrees hotter than last year! Beautiful course, no smoke just lots of blisters and chaffing you know where! Looking forward to receiving my finishers buckle in the mail - thankfully Carolyn had a picture of me crossing the line with the timeclock as they had no official record of me doing so!!! Cheers, Neil

I guess I was wrong about the heat...oops.

Neil, what happened at Diamond Peak a/station? Did the volunteers not show up? Did doing KK the week before help?

Tahoe Thirst.......

Hi Baldwin, the explanation I got regarding the Diamond Peak water station was that the volunteer could not find the top of the chair lift that morning which they use to bring in the supplies. Therefore, on the outward first leg there was no aid station but on the way back, he had got things set up and was most apologetic! Many runners were quite upset and thrown by no refuleing on the way out and it was likely a determining factor for some, in the outcome of their day - the 100 miler had a 57% completion rate. Ah, was KK a wise run to complete the week before?? I will admit last Monday and Tuesday I was not so sure but by Thursday, I felt good and well rested from a few days off. To me it was a good combo to keep the momentum going and for confidence going into a 100 miler but, what works for me, may not work for everyone! Cheers, Neil

Wow!

Thanks for the 4-1-1, Neil. It's never a "gimme" especially when us sea-dwelling temperate climate types encounter heat & altitude. Congrats to all who finished & all those who fought the good fight....I hope everyone got some great views, some time with good friends, & perhaps experienced something memorable. Good on ya!

Some info....

We spoke with Linda (John Machray's wife) yesterday evening. Here are the preliminaries: **Both John and Karl finished. Apparently, they had a tough race. **Rhonda & Cheryl: no news **Phil: no news either

Results?

I checked the website and the ultra list and there has been no word.  Has anyone heard the results?

Hope everyone had a good race and that the smoke wasn't a factor...

I don't think the race is over yet.

And as I recall the official results were posted on Monday.

Apparently it was cooler and cloudy unlike last year.
