The week started out with Ama's six month birthday. We hiked all three peaks of the chief monday. Loved the climbing portion with chains and latters... And the views were amazing! Today we hiked with daddy and friend, Tamar, up black and then strachan. Black was a good warmup for the snowy ascent up strachan. As I ate my cheese and crackers roaming about so as to appease Ama, I felt fully in my role of mule, trying to get some grass in as my master pressed me on. Where can one purchase a tiny whip for tiny hands to really get the look? The way down was great - I can finally say I "skied" cypress bowl!

Route for Black, Strachan and Hollyburn.
Hi Alli!
I was hoping to do a 3 peak 'quick bag' and wanted to ask your advice (or any one else who reads this). I wanted to approach Black Mountain from the Cypress downhill parking lot via the Baden Powell, but then I'm not sure how to access Strachen? I know that after Ibag Black I could run through the parking lot along the BP to the Cypress x-country trails then I can take that up to Hollyburn (if I'm not mistaken).
Can you tell me the best way to bag all 3 and approx how long that would take?
Thanks a ton!
Mike

Going down BP from the parking lot, when you reach the first XC ski slope, you take left. Following the ski run will take you straight up Hollyburn. From the top, there is a steep trail that goes down the North side and gets you on Strachan. Here is the start:
I was there 15 days ago, and there was plenty of snow on that trail, so it was easy to go down that way. When cleared of snow, it looks like it's a bit of a mess back there.
Maybe a bit over 1 hour from the parking lot to the top of Hollyburn? Then 10 minutes to go down Hollyburn on Strachan. I didn't go up Strachan that day so I'm not sure for that part.
I am also interested in hearing more about the "ridge" (from what I can tell) that goes to Strachan true peak. Is it easy to cross these days?
