I've always been an entrepreneur: I shoveled snow, cut lawns, bought and sold postage stamps as a kid and always had some moonlighting thing or another going on after joining the workforce.
Since promising myself I'd never work for anyone else again in June 2000, I've been a true entrepreneur. Apart from not having a paycheck, to me the definition of "entrepreneur" included having a home office and a flexible schedule that could accommodate noon hour runs in the sun and drop in visits by running buddies at all hours of the day.
Last week, I broke the promise I made to myself in June 2000. This has proven to have harsh consequences for my running.
For the first time in over 5 years, I have a boss and an office. The job is a blast and I love every minute of it, but somehow, my running is getting squeezed out. How is it that my buddies somehow get 3 hour runs in during the week? How do they get from their downtown offices to our Tuesday night intervals at 5:45 dressed and ready to run? Where do they change if they run or ride into work?
I'll gladly buy a beer or 3 for the person who can figure out a way for me to get 3-4 runs in during the week and keep the job. I'll raise that by a nice lunch every month for the person in the Yaletown area who has a shower I might use in the morning! Thoughts?
