A big, fat "Thank you!" for voicing your opinion regarding the proposed changes to our point series. The verdict is in. Your feedback overwhelmingly supported the proposed refinements and your creative suggestions made a few more. Here are the amendments:
- Flash Event Host Points: Flash Event Hosts will earn points. They will earn one (1) point for each event they host and points will be awarded retroactively from 1 January 09. Some of you rightly noted that Hosts of Scheduled Events make a bigger commitment to the Club and probably put more love into planning their event than hosts of one-time events. To acknowledge this, Hosts of Scheduled Events will earn two (2) points per event, rather than one and this will also be retroactive from the start of this year.
- Flash Event Host Points: Everyone agreed that there should be a clear distinction between a normal training run and a Flash Event. Given that Flash Events now earn points, we now have guidelines on our point series rules page. Where qualification as a Flash Event is still fuzzy, the final decision if a point will be awarded will be made by your Chief Executive Fat Ass
- Remote Runs: Sorry, no participation points if you do not start at the time and place indicated on the Club event webpage. As above, if you are a Club member and you feel your circumstances merit special consideration, you are welcome to submit your whine to both your Event Host and your Chief Executive Fat Ass for a prompt decision.
- Additional Comments: Thanks for additional comments... they were very valuable and much appreciated. We considered each them when drafting the rule refinements. I would have liked to respond to you personally, but given the survey was annonymous, I couldn't. To the person who suggested we should "not start a point series as it complicates things and puts pressure on participants", I'd like to point out that the CFA point series is currently in it's 5th year. Unlike other running series, we do not award points to the winners, rather our series recognizes participation and good sportsmanship. It's special and something all Fat Asses I have spoken to are very proud of, but I will make sure we ask the question in the next member survey.
