Please join me to welcome Amy MacArthur, who has kindly offered to take over the CFA Steering Committee Membership Chair position for 2008. Amy has been a CFA member for a number of years and you probably have met her on the trails. When not out running she spends her time doing research at the BC Cancer Agency helping to identify environmental, genetic and other risk factors for various types of cancer. Her professional background includes degrees in Health Sciences, as well as Epidemiology and Public Health.
Her goal for the role of Membership Chair is to increase membership to the club, both locally and internationally. She will also strive to ensure that all members are 'satisfied customers' and will want to return year after year for more CFA events and fun. You can reach Amy via the contact form on her profile page.
Amy will have the eager support of Jess Bassil, who joined the club last year and would like to give back to the community. Jess has already been busy in the background, planning and preparing a new feature. Look for the "Member of the Month" announcement on the website later this week and in the May newsletter.
A big thank you to Jess and Amy. If you are interested in helping out in any of our committees please contact me any time to discuss.
Last but not least, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our past membership chair, Michele Sherstan. Michele has been helping me for the past 2 years and her feedback with the newsletter, her survey skills and other thoughtful contributions have been greatly appreciated. Michele stepped back to make room for new ideas, but she will continue to be involved with CFA and editing your newsletter
