'Been thinking of jumping into a Club Fat Ass event, but 'still a little timid?
We've heard there are trail runners who are scared of Club Fat Ass:

"That club is only for hard-cores", they say.

"No course marking? What if I get lost?"

"Their run distances are only for super-humans."
-
"It doesn't seem right to not pay $30, $40, $50 or more for a run."

Or just, "Those fat-asses are nuts!"
Here's a chance to see if what they say is true...
Come try out a Club Fat Ass (CFA) event for free. While all Club events are free to members, non-members are asked to join for the day to help with overhead costs like prizes, and the "online clubhouse." Twice a year, though, the members of Club Fat Ass invite friends and fellow runners to join them for free. The "free for all" events are the North Shore Enduro in early May and the Get Your Fat Ass Off The Couch Run in mid October.
What's the catch? You need to be a CFA virgin... in other words, you've never participated in a Club Fat Ass event in the past.
Good to try anything once? The 2-step registration process takes you only 2 minutes and also gets you all set up to participate in the "online clubhouse".

First, take advantage of the trial membership. Click on membership registration, fill in your contact info and be sure to indicate "Trial Membership" in the tick boxes under Membership Type. After submitting your registration, ignore the payment options.

Second, tell your event host you are coming to his run by registering for it. You can find all of the information about the events, including a link to registration on the Enduro and Get Your Fat Ass Off The Couch Run webpage.
First-timers at Club Fat Ass events are usually surprised at how helpful and welcoming Club members are. We aim to pair you up with someone of your ability so you don't get lost or eaten by a bear.
