Hi everyone, I just wanted to take a second to let you know about an amazing friend of mine that is currently cycling across Canada.
He left Victoria on Sept 18th and is currently fighting snow storms in Northern Ontario!
His journey does not 'end' until December 4th in St. John's, where he will get a nice home cooked meal from my very own mother.
His journey is in the name of charity, The Heart and Stroke foundation to be exact.
He is just 23 years old and originally from Australia, so I'm sure he is just loving out Canadian weather right now!
This expedition is a tribute to his late father who died of a heart attack when Nick was just 21 years old.
His goal is to raise 10,000 for the foundation through his cycling trip. So far he has raised just under 2,300 yet he is almost half way to Newfoundland already.
Nick takes none of this money for himself, in fact he is doing this trip with almost no funding and on a daily basis relies on the kindness of strangers to help him out with food and lodging.
A few days ago he got up at 2am to accept a pre-arranged day old donation from a Tim Hortons, then went back to bed for a few hours before hitting the highway to cycle another 100+ km.
If anyone can help out in anyway, whether it be by a donation through his website, or to help get him more media attention in the hopes of reaching his donation goals, it would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great weekend everyone...enjoy the sunshine cause I bet Nick is praying for some right now!
Oh yeah, and Nick is stopping at schools across Canada to try and encourage young people to follow their dreams and lead a healthy active lifestyle. Exactly what CFA is all about!
