Sibylle's 2010 Fitness Goals

Funny how a torn muscle can dampen the excitement of making New Year's Resolutions.  If you would have asked me 6 weeks ago, I would have been full of plans.  Now I am a bit more reluctant, but writing down my goals for 2010 will help to achieve them!

Here we go:

Goal #1: Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50km.  I did have ambitions for improving my time, but because I am not quite recovered from my recent soleus tear, I will be overjoyed if I complete the full distance.

Goal #2: Marathon under 4h.  I would like to find a spring or fall marathon somewhere less than 1h drive from Vancouver.   Will this be the year I crack the 4h mark?

Goal # 3: Increase my running pace.  Speed workouts 1x a week

Goal # 4: Participating in at least the following other events/races:

  • Squamish Scrambler Snowshoe Run
  • Capilano Canyon MardiGras Night Run
  • Mountain Highway Madness (2laps)
  • XTC 50K
  • Bill's Great Peak Ascent
  • Capilano Canyon Midsummer Nite Night Run
  • Go Deep or Go Home
  • Sunshine in September
  • M&M's
  • Pure Satisfaction

Goal # 5: One other Ultra run

Goal # 6: cross training to avoid injury and keep those rusty joints nimble (bike, weight, skiing, badminton, swimming - all counts)

Goal # 7: Recover fully from the torn Soleus and remain injury free!

Good suff Sibylle

Very nice goals this year Sibylle - best of luck completing them all!

Maybe the "other" ultra run can be in Missouri?

Thanks, Jason.  I can check

Thanks, Jason.  I can check the Vancouver New Year's Day 50km off the list. Now I have to take care of the injuries.  Calfs seem to have survived the 50km without further damage or retearing...but my Achilles tendon is a tad inflamed (actually, it's pretty bad right now, but I am icing and will stay off as long as it takes).

As for a trip to Missouri....sorry for not having responded to your notes yet, we spent most of yesterday mopping up after the Vancouver New Years Day FA 50km.  The first of July is Canada Day, which turns the weekend you suggest into a long weekend for us Canucks.  I'll respond further on email...

Yeah, sorry to be...

Yeah, sorry to be coming off as pushy - I'm just excited about the possibilities!

I'm definitely not intending to be pushy and will curb my enthusiasm a little in trade for some patience - and patience is definitely NOT a virtue of mine

Not pushy.  It's good to get

Not pushy.  It's good to get things rolling. Just can't commit to a trip - as much as I would like to.

Totally understand!

Mull it over a little with Action Jackson - I see you both have LOTS planned for 2010!

I'm open to plenty of other dates as well.

If we can't make it happen this year, then we'll be sure to plan ahead for the next, but if we don't have to rule out 2010 just yet - I'll keep some options open.
