Well, the fools are at it again. Gilles, John and Karl ran the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 M. It was a whirlwind of flying to Reno, crewing, staying up late and getting back on the plane for me. My intention was to post pics to club fat ass as soon as possible and let everyon live the journey alongside Linda, Lorraine and myself. However, when I went to post to the fat ass site, the hotel firewall would not let me. I have now posted quite a few pics to my flickr account, just click on the link. More will be posted soon.
In summary, the day was filled with ups and downs. Gilles started the day bloated. Not sure if it was the altitude that cause it or something else, but he looked liked a bag of potato chips at altitude (all puffed up). Eventually that subsided, but the heat was a scorcher. Not too much fun in running in 100+ degrees heat 2 days in a row. BUt as always, his spirit was chipper. He did a great job taking pictures, many of the pics posted so far were taken by him. I guess he took full advantage of the need to slow down due to the bloated feeling. He eventually finished in 34 hours and 40ish seconds. WOOHOOO! A finish is still a finish and to top it off he gets a different buckle since his last TRT100 was a sub 30 hour buckle.
John looked good most of the day, but was a bit forgetul about his light before leaving the 50 mile aid station. He lost about 20 min because he had to come back to the aid ststion to retrieve his light. Otherwise, all was good. He did suffer from shoulder pain, but also managed a respectable 32 hourish time.
Karl ended up being a bit faster than expected and was elusive most of the day. He did have a tough time during the second half, but had a good finish nonetheless. HE was sub 30 with a 29 hour finish.
I hope you enjoy the pics. I will let the individual fools post a commenta bout their experience and any tips or advise they could give. John has done this race 4 out of the 4 years it was held and I believe Karl and Gilles have both finished it twice.
