Believe it or not, 5 of us met just before 7am outside Bean Around the World in Parkgate Village. With Cobs actually being open (oh the smell was amazing), we were able to get a full group shot in the glow of the store thanks to a customer. This is the last we saw of bright light until about an hour later at the picnic area parking lot. On the way, we came across things dangling in a tree which looked liked something from the Blair Witch Project, but on closer inspection they were just ornaments someone had put out!
Deciding the course would be short if we went up Homestead off of Fisherman's, we continued on the Seymour Super Fun Run Route heading towards Circuit 8. Bob and Mark were ahead of Kelly, Rachel and I at times, but we always found them at intersections. The majority of the time we weren't too far behind, but on the flats of Fisherman's, they were getting much further ahead. We came to the turn off for Circuit 8 and no Bob or Mark. uh oh.
We called out their names, ran a bit further along to see if they were visible on some straighter stretches, but no Bob or Mark. We were pretty sure they would not have taken off up Circuit 8 without telling us, and it was a bit of a sudden turn off that could easily be missed. We waited for 15 minutes, but then had to head on as we were getting cold (luckily no rain) and there was no telling how far they would continue on before turning back. Apparantly, it goes for quite a while to a butterfly hatchery or something. Thankfully at least, the two of them were together.
Back to the Gazebo and the oh-too-familiar B/P at Lynne Canyon all the way up the Seymour Grind, down to Old Buck and back down some more. Mark's car and Bob's truck were still there and no signs of life. Hm. Confirmed that they were definitely not in front of us!
Before us 3 gals parted our own ways, some snacks and a coffee to go from Bean Around the World of course. yum!
Raschel hung around a bit longer and I got a phone call later saying Mark and Bob had showed up. yay! They had indeed continued on past Circuit 8 for about a half hour. They then waited for us for 15 min and headed back when we didn't show up.
Thanks for coming out folks! Sorry we didn't get to run the rest of it with you Bob and Mark. Hope to see you again.
Cheers,
Jess
