A full month into the new year, and I seem to be keeping my resolution quite well. Although I don't have a resolution event until the Dirty Duo in March, all my training goals have been met in January. 50 km/week, riding to school 3 times/week, eating better, and keeping it all in a log.
I have to admit that keeping the resolution in this awful weather has not been easy. Today was the first day of the year that I had a dry ride both to and from school! On my run Wednesday morning, there was some strange sphere-shaped yellow object in the sky. I was a little nervous about it at first, but it quickly went away behind the clouds again!
The log has been great. I don't know why I never kept one before. Turns out I ran just under 300km total in January. Another tool that I have been using is the google pedometer site. For those who haven't been, you can always know how far you have run, that is unless you are on the trails for extented periods of time. The site is http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ . The only problem with it is that it doesn't lie. No more calling that 9km run a 10km run. (Ean... it pains me to mention this... but you might want to double check the distance of Highway Madness).
The milage in February will decrease slightly as I have a couple of taper weeks and a recovery week planned during that time. I will be running the First Half Half Marathon on the 19th (no Cap night run for me this time). If all goes well I should be able to do it in under 90 minutes. I haven't run that pace for a long time so I plan to be sore for a few days after that one!
So that about covers January... hopefully I can keep it up!
