East Sooke Park trail run

East Sooke Park trail run
Dan and I had a really nice loooong run today.
Starting at Pike Rd. we trailed the Coast all the way past the newly refurbished Cabin @ Cabin Point, all the way to Aylards Farm.
Starting at that end of the park gave us a chance to enjoy the Coast Trail while still fresh. Both he and I rode out together on our scooters, and by the time we hitched up our steeds, we were both well cooled off!
I was shivering so much that I couldn't sinch up my shoes for at least twenty minutes. The trail at that time of the morning was breathtakingly beautiful. The mist was rolling in from the ocean and the sun was shining from the land side, through the trees, casting dark finger-like shadows against the curtain of vapour.
We both wished we had a camera, but figured that we couldn't have done it true justice.
We got to Aylards Farm in about 2:20 and set back via the Interior trail over most of the ridges and in and out of the numerous gullies.
Dan lead the way and we hardly stopped the whole 4:44:00 of the time, maybe 6 minutes in total for gawking and equipment adjustment.
We both started off with over full Camelbaks, Dan had a bit of a scare at the beginning as he thought he had sprung a leak, but luckily it was only a cross threaded filler cap that he resolved right at the beginning. He also brought, and drained an extra 600mls. of Gatoraide that he had in his hand, in case his hydration bladder had bled out on him. He was glad of the change of flavour.
What a memorable day, mind you it did start pretty early.
Thanks Dan, you dah man!
