Goofy Race in Orlando January 2009

At first I was motivated by fear, fear of an early death from heart disease, heart attack or stroke.  My doctor said, every time I went to see him...you must do more exercise.  I have finally listened to him.  I trained for the Sun Run 10 Km and ran it 3 years in succession each time achieving progressively poorer times with training that was falling off each year.  then in October 2006, I decided to to join Paul Porter and his gang to train for the next Sun Run.  I succeeded in achieving my PB of 56 minutes.  I have since brought it down to 53 because I ran a Half marathon.  So I thought, in order to run a better Half Marathon, I need to run a Marathon.  Since my Marathons were not getting any better, I need to run and Ultra Marathon.  and to run a better Ultra Marathon, I need to run more Ultras.  Now, I see the Goofy Race and a book I bought called "Run Less and Run Faster" in order to qualify for Boston.

I am attracted to running for trinkets, such as medals.  Running the Goofy Race will get me a Medal for the Half, a medal for the Full Marathon and one for doing them both back to back.  That's for me.  Now I would like to convince a few others to join me to go to Orlando as a Vancouver/ Canadian contingent.  Unfortunately, there is no Team Event.  Nevertheless, we could still form a TEAM and get shirts made for a group that goes.  That would be something to talk about back home.  Then we can relive our childhood and go and enjoy Disney World.  We just need a good accommodation.  At this point, I have as a possibility a Townhouse at $285 per night (estimate from 2008) for a 1,500 SF place with 3 large bedrooms with Queen sized beds and 2 bathrooms, kitchen and a Large Living Room.

Registration begins January 14, 2008 for January 2009.  This Goofy Race usually sells out fairly quickly....last year in 6 weeks.  I shall register on January 14, 2008.  Please let me know if you are interested, it should be fun.  After doing the Knee Knacker, 63 Km should be no big deal, eh wot?

Doing it all in fun and in the most rediculous manner possible,

Arthur CHat Gee (the Cat in the Hat)
