Flash - Burnaby Mountain for Boston run in the Sun (or Rain)

For all those who aren't running the Sun Run on Sunday, or for those who want to have a 2nd run that day, here is a flash event in honour of the extended community impacted by acts of terror; 

All are welcome to this event. The course is TBA.

I envision this to roughly be a 1 hour event, with people running and chatting until 2:50pm (the estimated time of the explosions in Boston); and then continuing to running to run till 3 in silence --  We honour the victims by keeping on running, by continuing to put one foot in front of the other, by not stopping doing things together, by not stopping doing things that are important for our general wellbeing! We run in honour of our loved ones past/present who inspire us, support us and give us strength... We run for life...

We will meet at the SFU track (Terry Fox Field) at 2pm. I will be wearing my Boston 2013 top.

Entry: There is no fee and you don't need to be a member of Club Fat Ass to participate in a Flash event, however whining is not allowed. No registration is required but please indicate your participation via the comment form below. You are responsible for your own well being and safety and should be self sufficient.

Flash Event Report

A partially grey morning turned to hail and wind and then rain, as I went to the Terry Fox Field to meet with Campus Security who had been assigned to oversee safety/security of the event. When I arrived at the field at 1:45pm, there were news reporters from a variety of local stations to greet me. I left to get ready and when I reemerged at 2:00pm a handful of participants had arrived. We were interviewed for about 15minutes and then at 2:15pm we started down to the field in what was now sleet turning to snow. In total we were 11 runners. Campus security required us to stay on the track, which worked out nicely for us and for the media. We ran counter-clockwise until 2:50 chatting with eachother, and then turned around to run clockwise in silence. At 3:00 oclock we stopped with the exception of Margaret T who ran for another 15 minutes to get her full 60 minutes run done.

A fun run was had in the Rain, Wind, Snow, Sleet... and when it was all over the Sun came out...
