The Great Unknown

We need an excuse to check out the new trails that go from Egmont Road and Hwy 101, down to Dan Bosch Park. The trails opened late last summer and we have yet to check them out.

Last year, there were a couple of obvious turnaround points that can be used again this year. The first is the entrance to the campground, the second is when you come to the far side of the campground and the third is when you reach Hwy 101 and Dan Bosch Park (near Ruby Lake).

Guessing, I'd say approximate distances for these three routes (out and back) are 10-12k, 13-15k and approximately 19-22k. But that is absolute SWAG.

Starting at 8:20am (after the arrival of the 7:25am ferry from Saltery Bay) gives the option of taking the 10:25am or 12:20pm return ferry.

We are going to meet near the picnic tables at the Earl's Cove Ferry Terminal, run the highway to Egmont Rd (approx. 1.5k uphill) and then jump onto the trailhead at Egmont/Hwy 101.

Please let me know in advance if you are coming!!!
