New Years Resolution Contest - 2011
And the winner is...Reagan White! He achieved 56% of his resolutions for 2011. For doing the best job of hitting his goals, he wins a pair of Solomon running shoes and a video gait analysis from Kintec Footlabs.

Ean Jackson's 2011 Fitness Resolutions - How'd I Do?
Less than a week until the end of 2011. With the finish line in sight, I suppose it's OK to take score and see how I did relative to my friends and peers who were bold enough to share their fitness resolutions about this time last year...
Hoping to run for fun and try to dial up the speed a bit in 2011. Here are the specifics of how I propose to measure my athletic success in the new year:
Running and related events

participate in at least 10 scheduled CFA events: Vancouver New Years Day Fat Ass 50K, Squamish Scrambler Snowshoe Run, Capilano Canyon Night Run - MardiGras, Mountain Highway Madness - Spring (3 laps, so I can count it as an ultra), The Marathon Shuffle in Powell River, North Shore Enduro (aim for at least 50K), Squamish Brick, XTC, Bill's Great Peak Ascent, Capilano Canyon Night Run - Midsummer, Mountain Highway Madness - fall, Sunshine in September, Ann's, Go Deep) over 100% woo hoo!

participate in 3+ CFA Flash events. over 100% woo hoo!

earn age group recognition in at least one of the following local ultras: Chuckanut 50K, Dirty Duo 50K, Diez Vista 50K, Frosty 50K, Walk in the Park 54K or Elk/Beaver 50K 100% no show

I'll give myself double points for completing a road marathon and/or a 1/2 Ironman triathlon didn't attempt either in 2011, so moot point
Apart from the running events, I aim to:

put the remnants of past injuries behind me and start a 20-year streak of injury-free running fail

go to at least 25% of the Capilano Eagles Tuesday speed workouts (yes, rain or shine, so that makes 10+ times) fail
-
stretch more... to the point where I can touch my toes with my palm fail
-
get in the pool once every other week (21+ times) and survive the Duel at the Pool 5K survived the Duel, but got my ass handed to me
-
get on the bike once every other week (21+ times, stationery bike and bike commuting included) fail, but did complete 2 Fat Ass Fondos and a Ride for the Haggis!
-
get into the gym or do equivalent lifting of rocks in the back yard twice a week when I'm not running outside (50+ times) yes, based on equivalency
-
get on the snowshoes once a week (while there is snow, or 20+ times) got out a fair but, but less than 20 times
-
get in at least 5 days of downhill and/or backcountry skiing (including at least 1 at Whistler) 100%

share some of my experience with a few up-and-coming runners and race directors yes!

volunteer (help with Club Fat Ass as a Steering Committee member) yes!

Since my resolutions from 2011 were entered into the club New Years Resolution contest, I have to now provide a hard score for myself. Yikes... this is a bit of a hairball given I had a lot of goals thrown-in with the resolutions. Given that I accomplished most of what I wanted to, I'm going to give myself an A- with a ribbon for achievement. Since letter grades don't count, I'll give myself an 80%

Last year saw me with a ripped calf for the first couple of months, but otherwise, 2010 was a great year. I completed my 100th ultra, finished a 100-miler and bagged 48 peaks in the Bagger Challenge.

Ok ambitious I know but here is the plan...
Event goals
1) New Years Victoria 50k - Jan 1, 2011 - Complete!
2) Squamish Scrambler - Sat February 12, 2011 - missed this one ;-(
3) Dirty Duo 50k - Sat March 12, 2011 - Complete! 4:59:25!!
4) Diez Vista 50k - Saturday, Apr 9, 2011
5) Elk Beaver 50m - Sat May 7, 2011
6) Vancouver 100 - Saturday June 4, 2011
7) Peak bagger challenge - July 2011
8) Cascade Crest 100 mile - August 27-28, 2011 - Need new goal it's full!
9) Athletics for kids fitness challenge - November 2011 complete the 1000 reps in under 30 minutes with excellent form.
10) Yukon Arctic Ultra - Feb 2012 - I'd really like to go back and complete the 300 mile version.
Being specific with these Event goals is tough. I really just want to complete them. As for the Peak Bagger challenge I'd like to do the'Cirque de Grouse' again. That consisted of doing the GG or BCMC heading to Grouse, Dam, Litlte goat, Crown, Goat and Fromme. Then head back to the starting point. All of this is in the name of 'training' for completing the CC100.

Sibylle's 2011 Fitness Goals - How did I do?
Here is my assessment on how I have done with my New Years Resolutions for 2011. In general, I ran much less than I hoped for, due to a naggin injury. However, I was able to at least do custom runs at most CFA events. My lofter Bagger Challenge goals did me in though...Only climbed 2 peaks...

Susan's Resolutions 2011
[posted 1/2/11 but I had the list 12/31/10 just couldn't figure out how to post it then]
ok this is not all running related but I really wanted to get this all down in writing somewhere:
run as far as I could in the FA50 - 50 if my hip and ankle could bear it ✔ 50!
- PB on a half marathon
- PB on a full marathon
- run a 4 hr marathon
- STOP seeing people who are so NOT good for my mental health and be STRONG and STICK with it this time!!
- ignore MEAN people and their MEAN comments/actions and not let them get to me - MEAN people SUCK
- fix ankle and hip injury and figure out how to avoid injuring them again!
- actually really leave the RR if feel like it again no wishy-washyness
- meet new runners so I'm not reliant on the RR
- learn to be more disciplined on solo runs
- learn to enjoy running solo
- figure out how to run fast without being pissed off - draw on +ve energy instead of -ve
start drawing/painting/photography registered for classes
- not get another speeding ticket!
- figure out how to NOT wipe out on my bike so I can cross-train on it
- walk to/from work more
- kick that Insanity chick's butt in the fit tests
- more core exercises
- try to stop stressing about how many calories are in a gel

- drink less night before a run/race
