The race kicked off at 6am on time. We had 4 runners, including myself. It was a small but hardy group of runners. We talked and ran and had a good time.
Instead of 4 aid stations as planned, I used two vehicles to stay near the runners and give aid. We had tons of food for everyone and still have left overs. Special thanks to my wife and son, Michele and Bradley, who crewed for all of us and did a outstanding job. Thanks also to Scott Davis who drove our second aid car and did great as a first time aid station worker.

Mike Wolfe ran very well and moved to the front early on and stayed out there the whole way. The rest of us ran together for most of the run. Dan Probst and our farthest travelled guest, Butch, ran solid. We had good fun and made some new friends. Thanks to the club and all the runners who came out to run with us.
GORY details of the race: I can only tell these details from my point of view. I had been pretty anxious about the event and making sure everyone had a good run and a good time. So I ended up waking up at about 130am that morning after multiple cups of coffee and getting everyone awake and getting our 10 tons of food together we went to Copper Falls to start everything off.
Everyone was very nice and things got off to a good start. Dan Probst and I talked and got to know each other which was great, (thanks Dan it was fun !). After I got to the turn around point for 25 miles at about 4 hours I knew for me I was going to fast. But I pushed on ahead. It was on this paved road that I got my first headache and upset stomach. At the aid area I took on some gatorade and advil. Tooo many advil I think. After about 30 miles I started feeling even more sick but pushed on. After all this was my event and I had to finish the whole 50 or else! I saw Dan and my wife drive by and they asked if I needed anything I think I said no but anyway I told them to meet like 5 miles down the road/trail. Well it took me awhile to get there, after repeated throwing up and running and throwing up I got there. Dan ran with me after we got back together, again THANK YOU Dan, I really enjoyed running and talking with Dan who turned out to be a really good guy! Well I proceeded to get sick again like at mile 36 and kept throwing up until 37.75 where is I stopped and proceeded to ge some wicked leg cramps. Dan was telling us about Badwater where you can put markers down and come back after going to your hotel and start running again where you left off. My son hearing this said and I quote, " Let's put a marker here that says this is the spot where Keith Thompson got his butt kicked." Hence the name of the race probably fits!
